Curriculum Vitae | Mariam Prokou
Mariam was born in a family of musicians in Athens, learning from a very early age to «translate» music into movement and dance. Through personal trips to various types of dance, she discovers, in Paris, the art of Modern Oriental Dance and the Dance Theater, where she has been trained and served for a lot of years.
Education:
•She was initiated into the Sufi’s dance and the philosophy of Ancient Oriental Dance in Cologne by Sahrazante, an Oriental Dance Philosopher.
•She was initiated into Ritual Dance in Egypt to Zaar and Shamanic Spiritual and Ecstatic Dance.
•She studied modern Oriental dance in Paris, but also different dance styles from east rich tradition.
•She studied Indian - Οriental Dance in London.
•She serviced with Mahmoud Reda and Farida Fahmy the traditional folk dance in Egypt.
•She studied Stylist and Dancing Costumes at the French Veloudaki Fashion Center.
•She was educated at Art Therapy Gestalt, Relational Art Therapy, with Morgan Goodlander.
•She was taught Primitive Motion - Dance, Rhythm, Social Link and Therapy by Psychologist-Psychoanalyst, Choreographer-Professor at Paris V. Sorbonne University, France Schott-Billmann.
She was educated to Shamanic Energy Medicine, The 4 Insights of Peru's Indigenous Q'ero Tradition, which was taught by Jane Rigby, a former university lecturer, 1st generation student of Don Americo Yaba and Alberto Viloldo, Ph.D. D. Professor of Medical Anthropology and Psychology at the University of San Francisco USA.
•he is currently studying Social Anthropology at Panteion University.
Her personal oriental style of dance is influenced from the passage of Arab culture in the City of Light, Paris, and by the spiritual-ecstatic form of Ancient Gomphid Dance.
In 2016 δημιούργησε το «Oriental Dance Research Workshop - Feminine Harmonization» situated in Athens downtown, (16 Agioi Anargiron Street, Psirri), where she teaches to date.
•She is teaching group and individual energy therapy dance lessons.
•She organizes seminars and performances on Feminine Archetypes, the history of the female body and the expressions of female energy.
•She choreographs symbolic choreographies with female Archetypes and teaches energy therapeutic dance - Feminine Harmonization.
•Explores the relationship and connection with the inner and outer body of the woman, through the method, «Creation - The four faces of woman". This method relates to self-knowledge through authentic movement and the personal story of emotions embodied in the female body, thus affecting the thinking-action and opening the senses
Since2012, Research «Oriental Dance Research Workshop - Feminine Harmonization», discusses the issue of recognition of femininity, the perception of a woman of her sex, age, body and her experiences through her body report and action instigated by her feelings.
In 2007, she created «Frame and Theme», a handbook for women's bodies and their dance identity in Oriental dance.
In 2004, she wrote, choreographed and taught the Oriental-Indian Dance Theater entitled "If You Dare Sun of the Desert", a tale full of heroes and symbols, through the history of centuries and cultures with passports in both sexes and transcendence name of the word "Dare", which has been presented for 11 years with its dance theater group "Liaison" in theaters and cultural events in and outside Athens.
In 1998 he founded the dance studio «La maison des Artistes» in Marousi.
Since 1988, she has been teaching seminars, dancing, choreographing, training professional and amateur dancers while researching the evolution of woman in relation to her femininity, as well as the history of the female body.
